Dispusip Holds 2023 Jakarta Literacy Festival

The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) is holding the 2023 Jakarta Literacy Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta.

This festival takes place from September 8 to 12, 2023, with the theme "Hone Literacy to Build Relationships". Mirdiyanti Heru, who is also the Acting Chairperson of Jakarta TP PKK, is also crowned the Mother of Literacy.

Jakarta Dispusip Head, Firmansyah said the Jakarta Literacy Festival is held to commemorate International Literacy Day on September 8 and support Jakarta as a city of literature.

This activity consisted of various series of events packaged in one forum so that people could more easily obtain information and knowledge, as well as produce works that are beneficial to themselves.

"This is the second time and it aims to improve public understanding of information and knowledge that is beneficial to oneself and society, as well as provide affordable reading materials for the community and improve the role of the literacy activist community in developing and cultivating a love of reading culture," he expressed, Friday (9/8).

He explained it was held in synergy with the Indonesian Publishers Association, Jakarta TBM Forum, Kargo Baca, Baca Bersama, and Fun Garden of Literacy and was fully supported by PT Jakarta Propertindo as the manager of the Taman Ismail Marzuki building.

"Various literacy activities held during the festival include seminars, workshops, community activity exhibitions, mobile library book bazaar performances, fairy tales, invitations to donate to read together, archive exhibitions, and other interesting literacy activities," he explained.

Jakarta TP PKK Acting Chairperson, Mirdiyanti Heru uttered that her party would intensively introduce a culture of reading in society.

"The target locations to be targeted to inflame a culture of interest in reading in the community include PAUD, schools, and RPTRAs," he stated.
